Thinking of ideas for your next article? Here's an easy technique to help you brainstorm original ideas quickly. This technique will allow you to quickly get past the obvious ideas and into more creative thoughts.
You should know the general topic you want to write about. It can be anything. Get a sheet of paper and write the letters A to Z down the left hand side. Now, without stopping in between each letter, go down the list, thinking of a topic related to your main subject starting with each letter in turn.
Let's take Computing as our example. You might write:
A. Apple
B. Browsers
C. Cache
D. Disks
E. Ethernet...
... and so on, through to Z.
It's important that you don't question what you write down. Just think of a word beginning with the next letter that's related to your topic, and write the first word you think of down.
When you're done, have a look through the list and you'll be sure to find a few words you would never have originally thought of it you hadn't forced yourself to think this way. You'll find those words will prompt you into thinking of a brilliant idea to base your next article on.
An alternative way to do this is write down numbers 1 to 10, or 20, or 30, depending on your preference, and write down the first 10, 20, or 30 related words as you think of them. They donât have to be alphabetical this time, just related to your main topic.
